i know i haven't been on these forums in a lllloooonnnng time, let alone go to ANY car meets; life's gotten in the way alot. anywho, long story short i need to replace both cams and most (if not all) lifters in my mkiv gti 1.8t and being that this will be the first time working on a vw head, i'd feel a lil more comfortable if i had some help from someone more experienced. so i'm asking if anyone here (since some of you are local to broward) would mind helping me out once i get the parts?
i'm not a newbie to working on cars (i went to wyotech and graduated from their automotive program), but i've never done anything inside a vw engine, head OR block but i know they're a PITA to work on sometimes and i'd appreciate an extra set of eyes/hands.
i won't have the parts for probably at least a month or so (being that i've been out of work for 2mos and am hopefully starting this week sometime). also with that being said, i'm really strapped for cash for awhile and probably will be after spending the $800-$1K getting the new parts. i can't even get the new parts until after i start getting paid which won't be for another month or so probably. however, i'm open to negotiations, if any come to mind...
thank you in advance for any help offered.

I would suggest coming to one of the meets and speaking with Ralph. He might be able to help you out...?
(Sorry for the delayed post. I guess noone likes mkiv's in here enough to respond... lol)

Glad to see you posting on the board again (...better late than never... lol).
You should come out to one of the meets sometime. We have 2 meets a week. Alex and I will be at the Chipoltle meet tonight...

I will make sure to update the events thread for the Chipoltle meet. It will have the address listed now.
15880 Pines Blvd. Pembroke Pines, FL 33027
The meet is typically on Wednesday nights (weather permitting). People show up between 9 and 10. We try to get there a little earlier so we can eat dinner and still have time to chill out.
We also have a weekly meet at the Towers Shops Car Show on Friday nights. The event at-large runs from 6-10pm. However, we usually don't show up till around/ after 8pm. Address to follow:
1904 South University Drive Davie, FL 33324-5849
Feel free to join us!

I just went to the Chipotle meet thread and the address is already right there in the first post....
*Helpful Hint*: Use the "Active Topics" button in order to view the topics that have been responded to recently. Also, the EO Official Events are in the "Official Events" thread.
